Comments: Porth is a TV relay of Wenvoe (via Ferndale) and an FM relay of Wenvoe

Porth was originally a BBC landlord site which entered service with 3 TV channels in December 1974. S4C was available from the launch on 1st November 1982. BBC FM radio was added on 18th March 1992 and Radio Wales added in 2002.

Anthony Salmon: I took these photos in November 2006 - it was at 7.30 on a Sunday morning. As you can see it was a bit misty but hope they of use to you.

Robert Whittaker took these photos of Porth from nearby Trebanog...

But Wayne Brewer got closer. Access to the Porth Tx, he says, is along 2 miles of single track road with occasional passing places (there is no turning back) from Hopkinstown.

The band II log on the left is the RBL receive aerial pointing at Wenvoe. The 4 element band II Yagi on the right was used to receive Radio Wales from Wenallt before this service was transferred to Wenvoe.
