May 2017 - Change to Rx aerial

Trees have this habit of growing, which can present a problem to Tx sites in wooded areas such as Cwmfelinfach. In this instance the tree growth was beginning to degrade the received signal from Mynydd Machen. Fortunately digital transmissions can tolerate higher levels of coupling between the Tx and Rx aerials, so in January 2012 the receive aerial was raised to a position just below the transmit array, at the 27.5m level. How many years before the trees start causing problems again?

Note that the mobile phone panels have also been removed from the top.

The new receive aerial.
