THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
HATCH BOTTOM
Photos by Dan Glover | Page last updated: 2015-08-18 |
This single-channel relay closed down at DSO in March 2012. The antennas were still in place when Dan visited on a bright day in August 2013. Two years later they are still on the tower The site is surrounded by trees - no easy way to see the tower from a distance - but footpaths and tracks pass each side of the compound |
The site number is 10853 - consistent with historical Ofcom data and as a relay of Rowridge |
Against the bright sky, four vertically-stacked logs for transmit and two horizontally-bayed to receive Rowridge. All horizontally polarised since this was for the benefit of those using Hannington for reception |
The relay was most likely the green cabinet in the centre - a similar style was used at Hythe (Hants) |
Seen from the "other side" on a dull and damp day in August 2015 - antennas still in place |
