June 2017: DAB added

Ofcom shows this site carrying the local Tyne & Wear DAB multiplex from 5 April 2016, at 300 W ERP.

Taken from the road just west of the relay. The DAB antenna is two dipoles at the top.

At close quarters the trees and the panels for the TV relay obstruct the view, however...

...it seems the DAB dipoles are mounted with a stand-off from their support. Ofcom data shows a figure of eight pattern with the main lobes on bearings 030/210.

The GPS cones suggest the DAB transmitter has been housed within the building on the left, which was probably built initially for the TV relay. We understand the DAB feed is likely to be via SHF link from Pontop Pike.
