THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
INNERLEITHEN
| Photos by Martin Brown | Page last updated: 2019-05-17 |
The Innerleithen Tx site is accessed by a tarmac track leading up from the right angled corner by 3 St Ronan's Terrace, EH44 6RB. For some unexplained reason, the first 100m is not tarmac'd. This track rises by about 100m altitude. About a 20 minute walk. Quicker on the way down. Conveniently, there is a Co-op at the end of the road, where mb21 photographers may purchase some refreshments after their exertions. BBC National DAB was added on 22nd January 2015.

Two 5 element band III Yagis are used for DAB transmit.

The UHF transmit panels. I wonder why the third one down on the left is discoloured?

Slant polarised band II log periodics for FM radio transmit, with twin UHF 18 element receive Yagis lower down on the left. These point towards Peebles, hence the vertical polarisation.

Further round confirms that there are 6 band II transmit logs. 2 each pointing roughly east, south and northwest. The pair pointing towards the camera are those pointing south.

Note for Arqiva, the support arm has become detached from one of the UHF receive Yagis.

Slant polarised band II receive log periodic pointing towards Peebles.

Satellite receive dish providing the DAB programme feed.
