Comments: Box is a relay of Mendip

Show historic services

Updated December 2015

The village of Box is located just to the east of Bath in Wiltshire. The area is quite hilly, and the village lies in the bottom of the By Brook valley. The relay is a low powered affair, just enough to cover the village itself

Transmissions are from a single vertical log periodic, pointing due west. The RX antenna is a log periodic pointing at Mendip

The view west, with the village of Box on the left, and the London-Penzance main railway line on the right. Bath is just over the hill to the left of centre. The railway passes right under the relay site through the Box Tunnel.

Above and below: Neil White passed through the area in December 2015. No apparent change to the transmit or receive antenna although the mobile phone panels at the top of the tower have been removed and SHF links added
