Comments: Bramford is a relay of Tacolneston

Show historic services

February 2008, updated May 2015

James: the sun was getting ready to set by the time I reached this one. It's actually on private land, deep inside Thornbush Farm at the end of Thornbush Lane... after driving slowly up the lane towards the TX, I arrived at the farm, bottled, did a swift 360 and headed back out to the main road, from where I took the rather distant and hazy images.

Dan: research with the OS map suggested the site might be at the junction of a couple of footpaths, so off I went with dog in tow

James: The relay receives its off-air feed from a single log aimed at Tacolneston, even though it's quite some way inside the Sudbury service area. I can only imagine that there is a clearer outlook to the north than there is to the south-west. The four crossed logs transmit back in pretty much the same direction to cover the village of Bramford itself, which sort of nestles inside the edge of a large bowl, making good reception of any main stations a little difficult by the looks of things.

Dan: the relay also appears to serve Sproughton, to the south of the site

Fuzzy as well as faded - forgot to take a close-up!

Above and below, what James saw in 2008

On closer inspection there's no outward sign of DSO modifications - nothing which wouldn't have been there all along
