PORT ST. MARY

Photos by Ed Rixon Page last updated: 2023-07-13

May 2010

Port St Mary provides TV coverage for the south of the Isle of Man. 3FM also broadcast from the site. Other users are the emergency services and mobile phone operators

There is a new cabinet for the digital transmitters with the old building housing only the RNLI pager transmitter and 3FM.

Port St Mary was originally a BBC landlord site which entered service on 4-Mar-1977 to serve 6,250 people. Channel 4 was added in June 1984 and 3FM on 30-Sep-2005.

The original 'analogue' transmitter building now contains only the 3FM and RNLI pager equipment.

No doubt about who was here first!
