THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

MIDHURST

Photos by Rupert Fennymore Page last updated: 2011-11-16

2001?

The commentary accompanying Rupert's photos suggests he visited a couple of years after DTT services started at Midhurst, for which planning permission was sought during 1997.

DAB transmissions started early in 2001 - I think we can just see the array near the top of the mast.

Rupert reported that the stays had been replaced, with new stay blocks (below).

This group of dishes was added for DTT, about two years previously.

A main station requires an adequate electrical supply and this had also been enhanced.

Some SHF equipment mounted on the side of the main building. One of the units is marked "BBC Hogs Back".

The original transmitter building.

...and the new building for DTT services.
