THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

GOREY

Photos by Mark Carver, Simon Bryant and David Warman Page last updated: 2018-11-18

The Gorey UHF TV relay is located at Gorey Castle on Jersey. The transmitter entered service on 19th April 1984.

Mark took these first two pictures in May 1998.

Transmit and receive aerials are indicated in the picture above, although the Tx and Rx aerials seem to be labelled the wrong way round!

The second picture shows the RBL Log Periodic aerials directed at Fremont Point, he couldn't remember why he didn't/couldn't get a close shot of the transmit aerial.

Simon has just visted the site but couldn't find the aerials on the walls, maybe due to a large amount of scaffolding. However, a tour of the castle revealed this picture. The receive aerials were inside the Somerset Tower "looking" through the observation ports...

David Warman confirms that the transmit aerial is concealed within this housing.
