Mountfield was built by the BBC to serve about 300 viewers in and around Mountfield and Hoath Hill, and offer an improved service for another 300 viewers in the area who were marginally served by the Dover, Heathfield or Hastings transmitters. It entered service on 14-Feb-1986. The original structure was a 17m wooden pole.
