Glyndyfrdwy is a small relay serving the village of that name, which is shielded from the main Corwen relay by an inconvenient hillside. Unusually it is sited almost in the valley bottom, at a much lower level than the adjacent A5 road, from which it can be seen at one point by eastward-bound traffic. Glyndyfrdwy was originally an IBA landlord site which entered service on the 28th March 1983. |
The site ID, discovered on the hidden side of an open gate. Evidently not too many callers in these parts. |
A general view of the site, looking east-ish. The site is somewhat above the adjacent (surfaced!) road, reached via a flight of steps (up and down which all the test gear must be carried...) |
The business end. Four vertical dipoles spaced off a spine, presumably giving a cardioid radiation pattern to the west. Below, two tandem vertically polarised log-periodic aerials as RBL off Corwen. |
The view westwards from the site. |
