HULL ROYAL INFIRMARY

Photos by Roger Piper, Lewis Walker and Martin Brown Page last updated: 2016-09-11

June 2012, April & September 2016

Roger commented: "The tower block which houses Hull Royal Infirmary is quite a landmark in the area. WHCR's antenna is less obvious, probably one of the three vertical 'white stick' types above the mobile phone antennas."

Looking at Ofcom data, however, WHCR is listed as mixed polarisation and with a fairly directional polar pattern, so it seems the antenna is hidden somewhere else.

...and the rear, seen from Argyle Street

Most of the antennas are grouped in two areas of the roof

This group seems to be exclusively of microwave fixed links

The other group includes four 'white stick' end fed vertical antennas, seen here from the rear of the building.

Lewis Walker had access to the rooftop in April 2016 and we finally have a photograph of the WHCR transmit aerial.

Martin Brown visted in September 2016 and took these final 2 pictures from the hospital car park over the road.

The WHCR transmit aerial is on the right (west) end of the building.
