THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

DALIBURGH

Photos by Anne and Nigel J. Coote Page last updated: 2012-12-08

June 2012

This mast was seen from the main road A865 on South Uist whilst driving up to our accommodation on Benbecula at the start of our holiday in June 2012. It is also an easy mast to find with a good track road to it as it is shared with the Hallan Cemetery and the Round Houses on the dunes.

Also seems to be quite a large mast to serve Daliburgh village about 200 houses.

The equipment building.

UHF transnmit antenna tilted backwards. Possible correction to the manufacturer provided beam tilt.

Never easy to tell if a new antenna is added and the old are disconnected as in this case. But with modern transmission equipment it possible this could be a main/reserve arrangement.
