AVIEMORE

Aviemore UHF relay 2009

This is an oldie, and rather unique. Aviemore was a northern outpost of the old ITA 405 line relay station network, nestled in a valley under the Cairngorm mountains. ITV on VHF channel 10 started on the 29th November 1969. This was closed in April 1983 and then ceased to be a TV transmitter until UHF TV went into service in August 1989.

DSO was on the 8th and 22nd September 2010.

This earlier photo was supplied by Colin Dalziel - after the closure of Band III but apparently before the UHF relay was established
