Llangollen UHF is separate from the VHF main station transmitter. However, this site started life as a BBC 1, 405-line transmitter. Transmissions on VHF channel 1 commenced on 8-Jul-1968, closing on 4-Jan-1983. Transmissions of 3 UHF TV channels entered service on 27-Apr-1979, with S4C available from the 1-Nov-1982 launch. This smaller UHF relay is on Geraint or Barbers Hill, just above the town and is visible from way down the Dee Valley
