OGMORE VALE

Photos by Martin Brown Page last updated: 2020-12-04

May 2017 - DAB added

The start of the track up to this site is from the south in Lewistown where all the rooftop TV aerials point towards Blackmill. It is about a 1.2km uphill walk to the Ogmore Vale Tx. On this occasion sunny with a gentle cool breeze. Ideal walking conditions.

BBC National DAB entered service on 16th November 2015.

Two tiers of band III dipoles have been added on a cantilever at the top for DAB transmit.

I suspect that the single vertical log below the platform was added at some point to sustain a low powered service while the main stack of 4 was being maintained.

Band II dipole for FM radio transmit.

Receive aerials. Both pointing towards Wenvoe, which was visible on this occasion. See below.

Satellite dish providing the BBC DAB programme feed.

GPS cone and GPRS aerials.

Wenvoe 23.5km to the southeast.

Blackmill, 2.75km to the south.
