THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

KENSAL TOWN

Photos by Martin Brown Page last updated: 2017-10-21

Changes - October 2017

The transmit aerials at Kensal Town were replaced on the 17th October 2017 in preparation for 700 MHz band clearance. The frequency allocations here are expected to move into the lower part of band V. As you will see from my pictures, the orientation of the log periodic aerials has been changed, with the pair of south pointing aerials now facing much further round to the west.

I estimate that those transmit log periodics now face roughly 250° and 70°. Previously they faced 190° and 70°. The stack of four on the right face 70°. I wonder whether the intention is to serve the White City area, which is about 1.5 miles away from Kensal Town, and dispense with the White City self help. There is currently a considerable amount of construction work in the White City area between Wood Lane and the A3220, West Cross Route, north of the Westfield Shopping Centre and opposite Television Centre.
