| Construction of the temporary mast started in early April 2018. The overall height of the structure on the Kirkless planning application is 310m (1017ft) with the top of the main Service 1 (S1) UHF antenna being 324m (1062ft). That is 6m (20ft) short of the present tower. The structure will have Airplane warning lights at 41m, 83m, 131m, 173m, 221m, 269m and 304m. There are 10 stay wires on each side of the mast which are probably at intervals of 31m up the mast. |

| Saturday 14 April 2018. For two weeks the weather has been very poor with a mix of snow, rain, very dark grey sky and fog. So visiting Emley Moor would have been a pointless for photography. BBC Look North did a small feature on the new mast with a reporter on site. Very little could be seen of the mast construction due to heavy fog. |

| Monday 07 May 2018 Start of May has mostly been very sunny with clear sky. But at Emley Moor little has changed to the structure other than two wires have been attached to the area near present highest stay wires. |

| Saturday 12 May 2018. I have had a very busy week with building and testing equipment at work, so not able to visit Emley Moor. Today whilst driving to the site, I was a little disappointed that I might have missed the major building work taking place and with it being the weekend, I might not get to see any of the construction work happening. It turned out to be a good day. This morning I watched a helicopter place a selection of mast sections on top of the mast and even pull up the next level of stay wires. | Saturday 12 May 2018 Final height after todays addition, shows the mast is near the height of the microwave link room at the top of the concrete section which according to the IBA datasheet is 274m (900ft). |
