THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

NEW RADNOR

Photos by John Norton Page last updated: 2021-12-28

2004

The New Radnor transmitter serves a very rural area with a small population. This transmitter is in Wales, as is the village of New Radnor, but takes its feed from Ridge Hill in Herefordshire, as it is not possible to receive any Welsh transmitters in this area at all. In the village of New Radnor there are still some redundant MBM88's and XG21's at the bottom of gardens and on hillsides, reception in this area would have been almost impossible before the relay was built.

New Radnor was originally an IBA landlord site which entered service on 26th April 1984.

The site lies on a hillside about 3½ miles east-northeast of the village of New Radnor.

Transmit on the left. Four tiers of vertical log periodics. A single horizontal log periodic on the right to receive Ridge Hill.
