OAKELEY MYND

Photos by David Neale Page last updated: 2023-06-27

2004

The Oakeley Mynd site lies above the town of Bishops Castle, Shropshire. It was originally a BBC landlord site which entered service on 28-Sep-1979 to serve about 2500 people. Channel 4 was added on the 1-Nov-1985. A relay of Ridge Hill, there is also a log periodic receiving from Sutton Coldfield. This was used for ITV from about 1989, when the Central South ITV region was created so that Oakeley Mynd continued to transmit the Birmingham ITV regional output.

The two receive aerials. Upper on Ridge Hill, lower on Sutton Coldfield.
