STOCKPORT (RATCLIFFE TOWERS)

Photos by Julian Hardstone Page last updated: 2011-05-08

Photos taken Sep. 2010

The tx for Imagine FM (ILR) and Pure Radio (CR) are now located on the roof of Ratcliffe Towers in the centre of Stockport. Pure Radio was relocated in late 2008, from the factory chimney adjacent to the studio at Sanderling Building in Cheadle Heath to the roof of Ratcliffe Towers, immediately gaining 56m in antenna height. The STL is a microwave link using flat panel antennas. Imagine FM was relocated from the Romiley site in the autumn of 2010, returning to the town-centre site close to where it was first located on the adjoining block of flats, losing 28m in antenna height and reverting to vertical polarisation

Ratcliffe Towers is one of three blocks of flats on the south side of Stockport town centre. The Community Radio aerial is the monopole, the ILR aerial has stacked vertical dipoles
