Temporary UHF mast - August 2021

Following the fire at Bilsdale on 10-Aug-2021 the BT site at Arncliffe Wood now has a temporary mast erected to restore UHF TV services to the areas around Darlington, Barnard Castle, Richmond, Leyburn, Catterick, Masham and Ripon.

These pictures were taken during the morning of 20-Aug-2021 and transmissions commenced later in the day.

These two satellite dishes will provide the programme feeds for the three PSB multiplexes. The two BBC muxes are on the Intelsat at 27.5° West. D3&4 on Astra 2.

The antenna, which I understand is horizontally polarised, omni directional. This just needs lifting to the top of the mast.

The crane arrives.

On its way up.
