New UHF Tx antenna - September 2021

The UHF transmit at Les Touillets was replaced during the autumn of 2018 in preparation for 700 MHz clearance which was implement on 13-Mar-2019. The new UHF antenna was required, not only because two of the TV multiplexes were moving down into band IV, but also a 3 kW vertical component was to be added to the transmissions. Unusually, Les Touillets had been a horizontally polarised relay station.

Unfortunately I was only able to capture the image below at some distance with high zoom.
[Ed]. The brightness of the aircraft warning lights would indicate that it was also getting quite dark.


The DAB dipoles and Island FM Siras are located just below the right hand aircraft warning light on the pole.
