THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

CLEE HILL (HILL TOP HOUSE)

Photos by Jack Richardson Page last updated: 2022-04-02

March 2022

A walk around Clee Hill. This site is much higher than Woofferton, and it's interesting Woofferton has been kept on alongside Clee Hill, they duplicate coverage across much of the area. Driving northwards from Ludlow on the A49, Clee Hill seems to provide a better signal till tailing off just before the Church Stretton area from what I remember.

The views from here are amazing, stretching out over the South West Midlands and into Wales.

The transmit antenna points southwest.

[Ed] Dave Porter G4OYX has been in touch to say that the transmit aerial is a unit by Label Italy type AKG-7R. The 'R' indicates an additional bolt-on reflector. There is a link at the foot of the page to the manual. The reflector is to provide a null in the direction of Wolverhampton to protect Greatest Hits Radio on 107.7 MHz from Mander House.

Looking over the coverage area... that's Pen y Fan in the centre (hazy) with the Black Mountains on the left.
