THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
PENDLE FOREST
Photos by Martin Brown | Page last updated: 2023-05-21 |
No significant changes to the broadcast aerials since Paul visited in 2006. Not even 700 MHz band clearance affected Pendle Forest. So here are some updated pictures taken on a sunny day. |
Trees and bushes have grown since 2006. |
The obvious changes are the removal of the two, two element high band VHF Yagis from the top of the tower and that there are more mobile phone panels above the band II receive log periodic. |
The UHF cylinder look to be the original. Pendle Forest has always been a band IV UHF TV transmitter. |
Two tiers of interleaved band II and band III panels transmit the four BBC National FM programmes and BBC National and Lancashire DAB. Above on the right is the ILR (Capital FM) transmit aerial which is a slant polarised cardioid array. |
Three band III dipoles here. Ofcom data would indicate that the two lower dipoles form the transmit aerial system for Digital One at 28m. |
Two UHF log periodics and an SHF antenna facing Winter Hill. My guess is that the SHF link may provide both the TV and Lancashire DAB programme feeds, with the UHF logs providing an RBS. |
FM radio receive on Holme Moss. |
Band II Yagi. Purpose unknown. RBS for Capital FM? |
The only part of this sign not to have faded is the site number |
