New UHF & DAB aerials - June 2023

The UHF transmit panels at Hutton have been replaced as a consequence of 700 MHz band clearance. TV transmissions moved from upper band V to band IV on 19-Jun-2019. The two band III Yagi aerials have been replaced with band III log periodics, transmitting all three DAB muxes. Also there are pictures of the Radio Bristol transmit and receive aerials which are separate from the BBC National FM aerials and hadn't previously been photographed.

The curved profile UHF transmit panels have been replaced with these flat faced panels. The arrangement remains the same with four panels facing east and two facing west.

The east facing panels.

On the sunny side are the two panels facing west. The embossed trade mark on the front of the panels is that of antenna manufacturer Sira.

The new band III log periodic DAB transmit aerials. My guess is that the Yagis were replaced in 2014 when both the BBC National and Somerset multiplexes were added.

On the left, the two element band II Yagi transmits Radio Bristol on 103.6 MHz. Ofcom Tx Parameters quote maximum ERP at 65 degrees. On the right the band II log periodic transmits the four BBC National FM programmes.

No change to the single UHF log used to receive Mendip

The band II log periodic receiving the BBC National FM programme feed from Wenvoe and the satellite dish receiving the BBC National DAB ETI.

This three element band II Yagi points towards East Dundry Lane and receives Radio Bristol.
