KILLIN

Photos by John P Martin Page last updated: 2024-10-04

October 2024 refresh with some close-ups

Hardly anything to add to Bill and Mike's descriptions, but thought some close-ups might add something.

The Tx panels

This is the pair of HP Yagis that supplied the Crianlarich relay (no longer in existence). The transmitter feed is [was] split into 23W of VP signal from the main panels and 4W of HP into these Yagis, which are 18-element Jaybeam "parabeams".

This pair of 18-ele barabeams receive signal from the parent station at Kenmore. There is an ongoing debate as to whether these have been superseded by an SHF link to overcome possible fading issues, as the receive path is almost entirely over water - the full length of Loch Tay.

The large SHF dish on the left is the only one pointing back at Kenmore and I am a little dubious about this being the programme feed from Kenmore - it looks too much like an older BT infrastructure installation.

There are two clusters of these UHF arrays which, I think, have been added since Mike's visit. My guess is that these are MPT 1411 utility remote metering terminals using the 457-464MHz band.
