THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

PETERBOROUGH

Photos by Jack Richardson Page last updated: 2024-10-06

August 2024

Stopped here on the way back from a camping trip in Norfolk. The Peterborough mast seems to be located on a point where the Fens end and the hills start, close to the border with Northamptonshire.

Since the previous photos from 2006, the mobile phone operators have vacated the mast, and the Sutton Coldfield RBS aerials have changed from two Amphenol 7410000 log periodics to two 6 element yagis. Also the Peterborough DAB antennas were omitted from the 2006 pictures.

In this photo are shown the Alan Dick National FM and DAB antennas, the Sutton Coldfield RBS aerials, and the Radio Cambridgeshire antennas.

National FM and DAB. Mean height 133m.

A close up of the antenna system

The Sutton Coldfield RBS antennas.

The Radio Cambridgeshire antenna array. Mean height 74m. There are three sides, pointing south, east and north.

No antennas on the west facing side of the mast.

The Peterborough DAB antennas pointing northeast (60 degrees). Mean height 61m.

The modern transmitter building. The BBC motif is in the centre of the photo. It must have been rescued from the previous building.

The entrance to the site. No Arqiva sign despite being a main site.

The neighbouring BT tower, looking bare.
