CAMPBELTOWN

Photos by Scott Henderson Page last updated: 2024-10-19

DAB added - August 2024

Some updated photos of the Campbeltown site following a short stay in the area.

The BBC National DAB multiplex entered service on 18-May-2015 at Campbeltown.

A general view of the site. The BBC DAB dish is near the bottom of the tower.

From top to bottom - the UHF TV 8 tier Tx antenna, on the left two band III DAB dipoles, then the band II FM radio Tx panels. Also the rear of the Darvel facing UHF receive trough. The band II panels face roughly northeast, northwest and southwest only. Northwest is the only direction with a second tier.

Black Hill FM receive. Line of sight must only just be possible here, looking at the terrain (the hills where the 106.5 mast is and the mountains of Arran are very close to blocking it). There’s nothing on 99.5 in the town centre. Black Hill is 75 miles away.

Campbeltown, BT Campbeltown and Argyll FM's site at Baraskomill.
