September 2026 - additional aerials

Dave visited the Brinscall site in September 2026, after learning that it has been equipped with additional aerials over recent years.

It is believed that Brinscall is now used for remote off-air monitoring of FM and DAB services, though no such services are transmitted from the site.

Viewed from the access road, two new yagis are visible at the top of the mast, a two-element one one which looks about the right size for FM, and a three-element one which looks like it would suit DAB.
The mast also is now sporting the obligatory telemetry dish, slightly obscured from this angle by a tree.

Despite being enhanced, the contrast of the photo is still a bit wrong, as the 'moody' sky wasn't conducive to good photography.

Viewed from the other side (and in a brief moment of sunshine!), it's clear that the two yagis are aimed in different directions. I estimate the FM yagi is pointing somewhere between north and north-west, with the DAB one more westerly.
They are presumably aimed at specific transmitter sites, though it isn't clear which.
