Comments: Sunningdale is a TV relay of Winter Hill, and replaced Bidston which was demolished in 2011

Hide historic services

June 2012

This site is within 400m of Bidston and was brought into use in November 2011 as the block hosting the original relay was scheduled for demolition.

Dan found that not only was the "Bidston" block still standing, but there was still an array of log periodics in-situ - see updated photos. Meanwhile Sunningdale was undergoing refurbishment, slightly obstructing the view.

Sunningdale is the name of a tower block rather than the locality...

...and the building is undergoing refurbishment. The top tiers of the transmit array are just visible above the parapet

From further away it seems there are four pairs of crossed logs. The receive log is underneath and almost hidden by the parapet

The change in location is sufficient that the locals needed to adjust the direction of their receive aerials - or add new ones as in this rather untidy installation. The contract aerial facing towards us might be aimed at West Kirby or just completely random

The area appears to have been wired up from new and is still a cable area (formerly Nynex)
