Edale is a small and rather isolated village in the rural Derbyshire Peak District National Park. The original structure when Edale entered service in November 1986, was a 10m high wooden pole. This was replaced in August 2002 with a wooden clad, steel monopole to permit antennas for site sharers to be added.

This small stone building, housing the transmission equipment, is quite some distance from the aerial pole. The cables are buried underground.

This rather domestic looking Yagi, which is on a very short pole close to the ground and tied down with guy wires is pointing towards Emley Moor. Most likely a remnant of a self-help installation.

The new structure is a 13.4m steel monopole, covered in wood-effect cladding to recreate the previous wooden pole appearance. Four crossed log periodics are used for Tx, and two 18 element, white-painted UHF yagis half way up the pole point towards Emley Moor for Rx.

Due to the very out-of-the-way location of the site (there is no access track), the replacement pole had to be airlifted into position.

Edale was originally a BBC landlord site which entered service on 28-Nov-1986, extending coverage to about 350 people.
