2003

The Cornholme transmitter provides television and FM signals to the uppermost reaches of Calderdale, right on the Yorkshire-Lancashire border. It seems that as a result of this close proximity that for many years the BBC and ITV/C4 re-enacted a modern day War of the Roses by transmitting BBC North West and ITV/C4 Yorkshire respectively from all sites in the Todmorden area (including Cornholme).

Originally an IBA landlord site, TV channels 1 - 3 entered service on 10th June 1977, as a relay of Winter Hill, via Todmorden. Site number 103.41. ITV was changed to relay Emley Moor around 1983. Channel 4 was added in August 1984. BBC 1 & 2 were changed to relay Emley Moor on 1st May 2009, prior to DSO at Winter Hill. DSO was on 7th and 21st September 2011.

BBC national FM radio entered service on 2nd February 1990, with Radio 1 from 23rd March 1994.
