Braid Hills opened in May 2007 to strengthen DAB coverage of BBC and Digital One in Edinburgh and also carries two local multiplexes Editor's note: despite this there were a few brief drop-outs on the BBC multiplex when driving through the city centre - but I have no performance data on the receiver

Mark sent the first photo in April 2009 with the comment: "Braid Hills - taken from Edinburgh Castle. The tower is on the right, behind the crane."

In October 2009 Dan tried to get a better view close to the site but it wasn't possible to identify the DAB antenna(s)

Further research suggested the DAB antenna would be on the north face of the tower and the site was within park land and reasonably accessible on foot Dan's photos from August 2014 at last show the DAB array in detail

On approach it becomes clear that DAB comes from the top of the taller structure...

...using an array of four dipoles Ofcom data suggests all services use the same antenna but at reduced power for the local MUXes

On the way up I could hear various clanging and shouting from inside the compound - it seems additional GSM panels were being installed with the stub feeders still wearing their dust caps in the above view
