Trax FM moved to this site in February 2015 - at that time it seems likely to be a relay of Clifton. In March 2016 Trax transferred from Clifton to a site in central Doncaster (Silverwood House). A quick visit showed no apparent change at the Worksop Golf Course site which presumably now relays Doncaster The previous site - known to Ofcom simply as "Worksop" - transmitted with mixed polarisation and is likely to have been directional in coverage. Now we have an end-fed vertical similar to the type used by many Community Radio stations |
The antenna is on a long pole attached to one of the club buildings |
It seems the transmit feeder has been run through the tube I wasn't able to see how the pole is attached and I'm not sure how much it's likely to move when it gets windy... |
From what I remember, the antenna itself is the section above the brown insulator and the lower section is for mounting purposes (On reflection, there's a much clearer photo of this type of antenna at Eliot College which shows the relative lengths of the two sections) The upper band of black tape is probably intended to provide some weatherproofing where the mounting tube is telescoped into the support "mast" - the tape below that possibly protects the screws which would be needed to stop the antenna disappearing due to gravity? |
