Photos taken August 2016

There are great views from this site - Sedgley Beacon is much closer to Wolverhampton than Turners Hill, so it's no surprise it's been chosen to host the local multiplex. I suspect Sedgley Beacon reinforces coverage around Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire in areas where Sutton Coldfield/Turners Hill/The Wrekin can't reach.

BBC, Digital One, Birmingham and Wolverhampton DAB all entered service on 6th June 2016.

Lots of SHF links here.

Two tiers of 5 element band III Yagis are used to transmit DAB. The left antennas point north to Wolverhampton city centre, whereas the right two point south west to Sedgley and Kingswinford. These aerials are used by all the DAB services.

There are 3 huts at this site - this must be home to the DAB transmitters, due to the GPS cone/s.

This was next door... is it an old Home Office/ fire service tower?

The Beacon.
