This is the Uttoxeter relay for Ashbourne Radio. It operates on the same channel as the Wirksworth relay, about 15 miles away. The transmitter was brought into service in October 2015, and operates at 50 watts.

Despite not being an Arqiva site, there is still site signage!

The obvious site here is the mobile phone tower on the right. This is what I thought was the TX, until I noticed something shining in the sunlight...

The aerials are just 8 metres above ground level.

I returned to this site a couple of days later in the hope of getting some better quality photos, hence the difference in light.

The transmit aerial is the one on the left, the receive being the one on the right. This points roughly north east, up the Dove Valley to Ashbourne Radio's main transmitter at Windmill Lane in Ashbourne. The transmit aerial is pointing south west to Uttoxeter. Transmissions from this site are very directional to the west, probably to protect the other 101.8 Ashbourne Radio transmitter in Wirksworth. Indeed, the best signal from this site is along the A50 corridor, until this is interference limited by Cross Rhythms Radio in Stoke-on-Trent, also on 101.8. Quite a busy frequency in this area!
