Radio Newark launched on 8 April 2015 and everything was still shiny and new in the July evening sunshine. The station is based at a school close to the centre of the town and not far from the BBC Radio Nottingham site, however the CR station is on much lower ground. Ofcom refers to this site as "Newark-on-Trent" - presumably to avoid confusion with the BBC site which is just "Newark". |
Definitely the right site then... |
The school seems quite newly built - possibly a redevelopment - and the CR station's antenna is on a relatively short pole attached to one of the buildings. |
Two slant dipoles are used. As might be expected this produces deep nulls in the horizontal plane (in this case towards bearings 110 and 290). In the vertical plane the pattern is more even but with a reduction of around 3.5 dB to the east, probably due to the effect of the support pole. The small box at the bottom of the photo appears to be part of the splitting/phasing arrangement for the two dipoles. |
