Show historic services

April 2017

Bilborough entered service Spring 2017, to provide the local TV mux to York.

The site is to the south west of the city, in the same broad direction as Emley Moor, so for most viewers reception should be possible using existing receiving arrangements.

The originally planned site was the main UHF site at Bilsdale. However few aerials in York are directed that way, as it carries North East (and not Yorkshire) regional programmes. In 2015 Ofcom moved the proposed site to Askham Bryan, a nearby water tower used for the now defunct analogue local TV service. However, it seems there was an additional change, and now Bilborough is actually in use. It's not known why there has been this additional change of site.
