The former BBC 1 405-line and FM radio transmitting aerials at Cambridge, were located on top of holder
No. 1, at the Newmarket Road gas works.

405-line BBC 1 TV and BBC National FM radio entered service on 7-Mar-1966. TV transmissions were on VHF ch2 and were fed via a 7 GHz link from Peterborough. FM radio transmitted on 88.9 / 91.1 / 93.3.
TV transmissions ceased on 8-Oct-1982. BBC National FM radio transmissions were relocated to Cambridge (Madingley) on 12-Aug-1983.


The SHF receive antenna is clearly visible on the left side of the gas holder. The other aerials are not so clear to see.


The aerials can just be seen on the extreme left of this picture
