Comments: Stroud is a TV relay of Mendip

A selection of photographs of the television transmitter at Stroud in Gloucestershire. It is a relay from the Mendip transmitter

Our intrepid cameraman Ivan Judd says: "Getting a good photograph of the mast is difficult as it's in the middle of some woodland."

Stroud first entered service with 3 UHF TV channels on 23rd May 1975, with Channel 4 from June 1983. ILR Cheltenham & Gloucester (Severn Sound), added on 7th March 1988. Radio Gloucestershire from 3rd October 1988. DSO was on the 24th March and 7th April 2010.

These two pictures - taken by Mike Smith - show a more sparsely populated tower in 1988.

The two receive trough aerials pointing at Mendip. Above are the local radio Tx aerials. Two tiers of slant polarised skeleton slots on three of the four sides only. NE, SE, & SW only.

At the top, on the left are two, vertically polarised, band II, log periodic receive aerials pointing towards Churchdown Hill.
