Llwyn Onn Installation 1976

If I remember correctly I visited Llwyn Onn shortly after installation of the UHF, probably before it went into service, to modify the RBL arrangement.
I think I installed the pair of log periodics near the top.
We can see a single log just below the platform and one half way up. I guess these were not performing to the required standard.
The plastic building 10' by 8' was the standard BBC cabin for 10 Watt relays at the time, and the panel antenna was one of the last to be built as the log periodic transmitting arrays were taking over for stations like this.

Llwyn Onn entered service on 21st October 1977.

Picturesque spot!

The adjacent link site was for reception of BBC 1 405 line service from Blaenplwyf and sending it on via SHF to Dolgellau. Details can be found in BBC RD report 1968-49 (Link below) where Llwyn Onn is described as the Barmouth Link site.

The site plan shows the dish orientation as being 83 degrees ETN.
