Show historic services

Summer 2009

I visited this site whilst on holiday in Northern Ireland.

Muldonagh is located alongside Muldonagh Road, near Cornamoney in County Londonderry. The tower is only about 3 miles north-east of the Claudy Tx which opened at the same time.

Originally a BBC landlord site which entered service on 13-Dec-1985 with a 17m wooden pole which has subsequently been replaced with this tower for site sharers.

Four tiers of crossed log periodics for transmit.

Reception here appears to rely on a high gain yagi, but if high gain is needed why is it mounted so low down? Perhaps the issue is ghosting rather than field-strength?

[Ed]. The RBL source in 2009 was Limavady. At DSO in 2012 the RBL source was changed to Strabane.

Muldonagh extended coverage to about 600 people.
