Show historic services

February 2020

Ashford is a new Dover relay added as part of the 700 MHz band clearance programme. It transmits on the same channels as Dover forming a single frequency network, and with horizontal polarisation. The BBC A multiplex went into service on 21st August 2019, with the other five multiplexes added on 16th October 2019.

International House which is opposite Ashford International railway station.

Nothing obvious on the side as a UHF TV transmit aerial, but there is a familiar UHF log periodic pointing towards Dover towards the right of this picture.

Dover Rx log.

Round to the west facing side of International House.

Close up and a more familiar aerial comes into view on the left side of this picture.

A four tier UHF slot aerial is used for transmit. It appears to be an RFS type LPR4A, which is horizontally polarised with about 9dB's gain and a cardioid HRP. There are three other UK Tx sites where this type of transmit aerial is used. Bexhill UHF, the Com 7 & 8 antenna at Mendip and local TV at Pontop Pike.

Further round and a ladder comes into view.
