THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

COKER HILL

Photos by John Staniforth Page last updated: 2014-07-05

This is another difficult to photograph site, being an Orange cellphone mast on a covered reservoir enclosed by a high fence and thick hedge and with no public access onto surrounding land.

Originally this site carried Ivel FM (later Midwest Radio) before transmissions were moved to Charlock Hill in 2008. It covered Yeovil and surrounding area with a good deal of overlap with the Windwhistle Hill site. The tx antenna looks like it was probably the end-fed monopole at the top of the tower.

BBC National DAB was added on 16th December 2011, bringing the site back into broadcasting use after a gap of three years.
