New transmit aerial - October 2022

The UHF transmit aerial has been replaced at Walsden as a consequence of 700 MHz band clearance. B700 channel changes were implemented on 5-Feb-2020.

The new UHF cylinder is a slimmer design compared with the original.

No change to the Todmorden receive aerials. In 2003, Lee Goulding questioned why the toed-in logs were necessary with Todmorden only being 3 km away. These toed-in logs are a recent innovation, my guess is interference from Emley Moor interim DTT, Mux D, which was co-channel with Todmorden ITV on ch49. A vertically polarised trough receive aerial has quite a wide horizontal beamwidth of about 40 degrees. The difference in pointing angle between Todmorden and Emley Moor is 31 degrees. Four toed-in logs will have a much narrower horizontal beamwidth. Any other suggestions?
