Show historic services

January 2017

Photos taken early in the morning - but I would have needed to wait a long time for it to get much brighter!

Radio Sangam has been allocated 107.9 MHz which was vacated by Pennine FM from nearby Ainley Top in April 2010. The CR station entered service on 3 June 2016. The hospital is on high ground to the west of Huddersfield. Ofcom data gives the site height as 187 m and the antenna at 35 m above ground, with omnidirectional pattern and mixed polarisation.

(Ofcom refers to the site simply as "Huddersfield".)

The hospital consists of a number of interconnected buildings but it was easy to identify the correct antenna...

...a Lindenblad array, apparently the Skymasts version. It's not far above the roof level but seems to be be clear of any immediate obstructions.

At the studio site I noticed a shrouded yagi which suggests some form of SHF link is used - I wasn't able to stop but will investigate further next time I'm in the area.
