GARTH HILL

Transmissions from Garth Hill are vertically polarised from the panel aerials, and horizontally polarised from two log periodic aerials. This IBA landlord site entered service transmitting vertical polarisation only, on the 26th March 1976. Channel 4 was added in August 1986.

During December 1986 the horizontal beam was added to feed the Knucklas relay, which lies about 2 km to the northwest, on the other side of the Teme valley. This horizontal beam also provided additional coverage for about 3 miles to the northwest of Knighton for around another 110 people.

These curved panel aerials transmit the main vertically polarised transmission towards Knighton.

Further round and the two horizontal log periodic aerials come into view.

The principle service area. Knighton or Tref-y-Clawdd in Welsh.
